In relation to your query, putting ads on a site is always going to result in a little more latency than not having them, due to the additional scripts loading. On top of that Ezoic differs from an ad network in that the Ezoic A.I is doing very advanced optimizations to cater your site to every single visitor individually. Despite that, these optimisations happen very quickly and usually don't result in an increase in site latency of more than 0.5 seconds.

However, we have also found from testing with thousands of sites that serving ads as quickly as possible was actually not effective from a user experience or revenue aspect. Instead, we've found that it's better to stagger the loading of a page to ensure that the user receives the content first (i.e. the aspect of the page they came to the site for) - this way, the visitor can begin interacting with the page immediately, whilst other elements of the page (i.e. ads, click\/like buttons) load in the background. This is what we call \"Lazy Loading\".

We recommend using Time To Interactive, as it's the truest reflection of user experience in relation to site speed. That's because this metric measures how long before the users can interact with content - the reason they came to the site - whilst the ads below the fold and other non-essential scripts load in the background. You can test time to interactive using Pagespeed Insights.\u00a0

Here are some other things\u00a0Ezoic does to optimise the speed and user experience:<\/p>

- Unlike ad networks and ad tech companies, Ezoic reserves a certain height for each placeholder prior to loading other elements on the page in order to improve CLS scores, which would be worse if we didn't do that. Only Ezoic is able to do that because everything is server side integration whereas most ad tech companies use javascript-based or client-side integration, which is much slower.

In summary, Ezoic optimises ad delivery for speed better than competitors and we have more projects in the pipeline to further improve this. Just to reassure you the issue doesn't look widespread as I'm able to load the site on this end and the site is currently passing global uptime tests as well -<\/p>

I've edited my host file to bypass Ezoic servers and point directly to the origin via the Ip we have on file for the root domain, and I'm able to do so, so we should be able to rule out a DNS mismatch between the original setup and the Ezoic setup. I've also checked out your SSL settings and they're correct so we should be able to rule out an SSL issue too.<\/p>

The 3rd reason that origin errors can occur when using a proxy is when your host blocks requests coming via Ezoic. It happens because they're looking at a header with Ezoic IPs rather than one with the original Ip of the user, and they misinterpret the request as bot traffic. Your host can resolve this easily on their end by implementing one of these solutions: https:\/\/support.ezoic.com\/kb\/article\/how-to-fix-origin-errors<\/a>. They'd need to then clear the site cache as well.<\/p>

Should your host go for whitelisting option,\u00a0I've attached Ezoic's Ips and the\u00a0smaller static Ip list in case the first list is too large. Do let us know if they choose the static Ip option as we'll also need to turn a setting on our end in that event too.<\/p>

One thing I did want to let you know is that ad rates fluctuate throughout the year and this can affect publisher EPMV across the board - you can see the ad rates here and compare this pattern with your EPMV: https:\/\/adrevenueindex.ezoic.com\/<\/a>.<\/p>

- The other thing it's important to mention is that I can see your site has been live with ad tester for just over a month. As with all scientific testing, we need enough data to be able to make statistically relevant decisions. How quickly a site sees results totally depends on the volume of traffic the site receives, the percentage of traffic you're sending to Ezoic's optimized layouts, and so on. We typically say that a normal pattern of optimization for a site in the Ezoic system is 12 weeks - improvements are produced as the system tests new layouts and gets smarter about what your users like best. What may work wonderfully on one site, may not work for your users, so we need this window to test and find out.
