Placeholder in modal window

I want to display some ads in a small modal window, showing after an user clicks on a button. I've created a new placeholder in the Dashboard and placed it in the modal HTML content code. It's available in the DOM, but whole modal is default hidden by display: none.
I can see this placeholder using Ezoic' Chrome extension, but in a production environment, its HTML code is completely removed. No ads are showing. I assume it's because placeholder is not visible.

How can I achieve my goal? Should I use an other way of inserting placeholder? Maybe somehow dynamically, using JavaScipt?

karatom Just to make sure we are looking at the right one, what is the placeholder ID for the one you created?

It was placeholder 137 for wordlist.eu. Right now that modal is not published. I can prepare a test environment, if you think it should have worked by design, but didn't because of some misconfiguration.

Below is exact code which I've used back then. Maybe it was too far in source code and didn't receive any bids?

karatom Thank you for providing the code that you used. If you are able to set up a test environment so we can see this in use that would be most appreciated.

Just click on a "Launch test modal" button below crossword grid. Right now, it behaves differently than couple months before, when I tested it for first time. Placeholder HTML code is still visible in source, but still no ads showing.

The reason this isn't filling is that it is off-screen, thus the ad is not being filled or bidding on at all. Setting up placeholders in the fashion is not recommended. This seems to be emulating the vignette ad type placeholder, though it is being activated on a button click, rather than during page changes.

This feature is likely unable to be implemented

Ok, that's how I thought... Is there any other way to monetize user attention using a modal window? Maybe to use an JS SDK/API to insert placeholder dynamically or enable Ezoic's native vignette? If not, can we integrate ads from other supplier in this particular situation (modal window)?

karatom It is against Google policy to show ads within hidden content and so it wont be possible to do this through Ezoic or Google. You could try reaching out to direct advertisers to see if they would be happy having an ad in this position. many thanks

I don't want to necessarily put the placeholder in a initially hidden modal. There's no problem for me to use JavaScript, to insert it only after the modal would be fully visible. Would that not be against Google policy?

karatom I have heard back from the team and they have said that this should be ok. Please ensure when you set it up there is lots of padding around the ad so that it isn't close to clickable elements and a label as well so that readers know that it is an ad.
