persistent Origin Error.

Hello, I hope you're having a good day. I wanted to reach out because I've been experiencing a persistent issue ever since I switched to a new hosting provider. Despite following all the necessary steps, such as editing the DNS settings and double-checking everything, I'm still encountering the "Origin Error."

Very sorry that you are having this issue, happy to help. Running some tests, I can see that your current IP address, (Edit Removing IP) is correct. There does seem to be, however, some DNS inconsistency issues. Could you please share a copy of your DNS records exactly as they appear on your host? I want to take a deeper look to ensure that all is set up on our end as it should.

I am very grateful for your assistance. Yes, it turns out that they were using ModSecurity, and it has just been disabled. I hope this resolves the issue. Thank you once again for your help.

I've gotten origin errors off and on for the last 2 years. Nothing has worked.

I switched to Ezoic Hosting the other day and continue to get origin errors. In other words, I'm no longer using a third-party host and still getting origin errors.

Mako Are you using any security plugins or firewalls on your site? If so, please disable them as this can potentially cause the origin errors.

apena I have Wordfence. I have it configured properly to work with Ezoic. Is it incompatible with Ezoic Hosting though?

Chelsea_W and apena : Based on your suggestions, I am disabling Wordfence.

I'm following recommended security guidelines (correct file permissions, login protection, disabled XML-RPC, backups) and behind Ezoic's own security measures (like Cloudflare). Hopefully this is enough to guard against vulnerabilities and Wordfence is overkill.

Based on my quick testing, disabling this made uncached pages (bypassed) pages about 2x faster in general and has eliminated spikes and timeouts. Before, I was seeing it take > 30 s and timing out at some points. Now it's returning in 200ms. Maybe Wordfence was a resource hog and causing performance issues all along? I'll keep monitoring this

Mako Yes Wordfence should be compatible with Ezoic hosting. If you like you could try disabling it to see if the error occurs again.

It is strange you are still seeing them, I have just viewed your site and am not able to replicate. How often would you say it occurs? Is there a specific URL? When I use uptime tools the site is showing no Errors.

Are you using any ad blockers or security on your browser?

When you see the error and view page source what does it say?

Chelsea_W Yesterday it happened twice. It only happens for uncached pages (bypass or cache misses) where Ezoic has to go to the host for content. And it's intermittent. That's why it's so hard to reproduce. This weekend it happened a ton, and you can see that in site health. That's why I switched to Ezoic hosting. That reduced error occurrences, and the problem is back to being intermittent.

Heather Disabling Wordfence didn't help. I got origin errors for 20 minutes straight today.

Mako Hi there! We have had several publishers on Ezoic hosting experiencing origin errors around the same timeframe and are investigating now. This is likely not related to your previous origin error issue and seems to be something going on internally. Thanks for your patience as we look into this!
