Preventing ads from showing between grouped content blocks

Hi,

How do I prevent ads from showing in the middle of a set of grouped content blocks?
My site is hosted on WordPress.com and I use a set of blocks to promote an on-site product. But ads keep showing up between these blocks, which I don't want (screenshot below).

This one is a Media & Text block, containing Image, Paragraph and Button blocks.

And this one is a Layout Grid block containing a Cover block, which in turn contains Paragraph blocks and a Button block

Is there a rule/rules I can create to prevent ads showing in the middle of blocks like this? Since the positions of these blocks vary between blog posts, I'm guessing just removing a few ad placeholders won't work.

TheGoodLifeWithIQ Hello Heather here I hope you are well. Thank you for providing the level of detail that you have it really helps us to troubleshoot this for you.

To solve this issue it depends on the way that the ad placeholders have been added to the page. With your site you have wordpress plugin ad placeholders, placement service placeholders and AI placeholders on your site.

For the first URL https://thegoodlifewithiq.com/one-day-trip-to-kochi/ the issue was with the placement service ad placeholders and because you have the two other ad types on your site the placement service ad placeholders can be switched off and so this has resolved this for you.

The second URL when I tried to open it I got a blank screen please can you check that the URL is correct and I can then re-visit this for you? https://thegoodlifewithiq.com/is-thekkady-worth-visiting/ many thanks

Yes, the URL is correct and the page is loading fine for me. Could you try again?
Also, will switching off the placement service ad placeholders will resolve the issue across the entire site? Or will it only work on a particular page?

TheGoodLifeWithIQ For your question about the ad placeholders, it can be turned off across the whole site or by specific pages or placeholders, but in this case I believe Heather went ahead and turned it off across the entire site.

For the other URL https://thegoodlifewithiq.com/is-thekkady-worth-visiting/, I do see when using the Ezoic Chrome extension, it looks like the placeholders in those boxes are part of the WordPress plugin placeholders. For this one, you can disable the specific placeholder based on the ID number shown through the Ezoic WordPress plugin.

Does this mean I'll have disable the placeholders for each page individually? These blocks are in different positions on different pages, so that could be a bit cumbersome. Is there a solution I can use that would work across the entire site?

I've taken a look into this for you and it looks like the best solution would be to implement some WordPress insertion filters; which will automatically stop placeholders from generating inside these elements on all pages of the site - which will save you a lot of time. From the two pages provided, I was able to identify these locations which could cause problems, but feel free to let me know if I missed any:

The rules for these would be, as follows, .wp-block-group ; .wp-block-media-text ; wp-block-jetpack-layout-grid. These three rules would stop ads from generating in the elements shown above; regardless of what page they appear in.

You can set-up these rules inside the Ezoic WordPress plug-in's settings.

Go to Ad Settings and select the cog at the top right.

Select "Add Insertion Filter".

Enter one of the suggested classes above in the Class box: e.g. "wp-block-group" (without quotations).

The rule should look like this in the box (note that the system automatically added the '.') - repeat for the three suggested rules above.

Once those are implemented, you should stop seeing ads generate in this locations within approx. 30 minutes. Please let us know if you have any issues / questions regarding this. 🙂
