How does this background color in placeholder work?

Is it the ad container's color or the background color inside the ad (like the orange in the following AdSense ad)?

I couldn't find the preview.
kumar99 That would change the color of the placeholder padding. This will not change the color of the actual ad, but rather the white space behind it.
