Is Leap Cache Recalling Orphaned CSS?

Hi,

I'm currently facing an issue with Leap, and I'm having trouble finding a solution. Here's the situation:

I recently migrated my website and made some changes to plugin and server configurations. In my previous setup, I was using the LiteSpeed Cache plugin, which created a folder in wp-content to store CSS and JS files.

In my current setup, I've switched to using WP Super Cache and the Redis Cache plugin. However, I've noticed that the browser is still trying to fetch those LiteSpeed CSS files sporadically. It's not consistent – sometimes it loads them, and other times it doesn't.

I've tried clearing the Leap cache on the homepage and opened an incognito window to check the homepage. The first time it loads correctly, but if I refresh the page, the browser reports that it can't load the LiteSpeed CSS, even though it shouldn't be searching for it.

I can't simply delete the LiteSpeed folder from the server because it affects the homepage's design, even though LiteSpeed is no longer installed.

Sometimes I had to reactivate Litespeed cache plugin for few minutes in order to fix the front end of the homepage.

I've experimented with various optimization settings, but I haven't been able to find a solution.

Additionally, I can't use the Leap Lazyload feature because it disrupts the design. I'm currently relying on the theme's embedded lazyload, but it doesn't seem to allow the homepage images to load when the CSS-related issue occurs.

Note that when I'm logged into WordPress, any preview of the homepage appears to be fine. This leads me to believe that there might be something within Leap that is causing the problem. However, even after deactivating Leap, the issue remains unresolved. This situation doesn't make sense to me.

Plus there's two issues with caching: "disallowed vary header values are present" and "subsequent calls will be cache hits".

I can't do it...I would need to create a ticket (or more than one) but here we are...
Currently I can't afford to hire an expert so I'm stuck with these problems.

I'd greatly appreciate any help in resolving any of these matters. Thank you!

Lucio1976 this initially sounded like Leap had cached those files but then you mentioned that the issue persisted even after disabling it. Just to rule that possibility out however - could you confirm that you've also cleared the Leap cache under 'Leap' > 'Optimize' > 'Clear Leap Optimization Data' and that the issue still persists after doing so?

When you migrated servers, did you update Ezoic's copy of your DNS records to match those at the new server? It's possible that you could be seeing requests to deprecated assets if not.

Hi,
yes, I've cleared the optimization data without effect but if I add "/?nocache" to the URL, everything is fine.

About DSN: I updated the ip address of the server in the DSN page on Ezoic and Cloudflare, I think it's all right there.

I thought that, since the browser is requesting a folder full of deprecated css, I could disable the Leap CSS optimization but it completely destroy the graphic structure of the homepage and again, adding "/?nocache" resolve everything.

Lucio1976 Do you run any other caching on the site? If there are other caching systems/plugins, this could cause a loop in the cache, as one cache system with show the already cached site to the freshly cleared system.

If you have other caching active, could you disable it, and then clear your site's cache on the caching page of the Leap dashboard?

Redis cache and WP Super cache.

I tried deactivating WP Super cache: no changes
Deactivating just Redis: no changes
Deactivating both: no changes
Deactivating both and set the development mode in CloudFlare: problem is gone....but at the second or third page-reload, the problem is still there.

I even tried to delete again the optimization data from Leap just to be sure but no changes.

Lucio1976 Hi! I went to your site and I refreshed it quite a few times and wasn't able to recreate the error, I couldn't see a css error in console tools and the page loaded consistently for me. Are you still getting this?
Please can you clear your browser caches and cookies, and if you're still seeing the error tell me where this error shows? e.g. on the page, chrome console etc.?

Hi,
yes, I'm still getting the wrong layout after the first page-reload or clicking on "Home" from the main menu.

Currently there's no cache plugin activated, I've removed both Redis and WP Super Cache.
CloudFlare and Ezoic are the only caching system still running.

Please, let me know which layout do you get loading my website (at this point I was going to upload 2 screenshot but I don't know how to do it with this code ![](https://) )

A layout where the text goes from a side of the screen to the other without any blank space (full width)
or
A Layout where the text is contained and has blank spaces at both side of the text?

The correct layout is the one where the text is contained. Which one do you see?

Lucio1976 We are currently seeing the text contained even after changes pages and refresh them several time.
Just to make sure you are seeing an up to date version of your site, can you please clear all cache and cookies in your browser as well.

It worked till I cleared the cache for homepage on Leap.
Now I still see the full width layout.
All cache are cleared from browser to server.
I get the wrong layout on incognito page in Chrome and on a new page on Edge and Firefox.

Lucio1976 Hi there, it seems we are still unable to replicate this issue. I'm seeing the same layout uncached, incognito, etc. without changes (screenshot attached, just to confirm this is the correct layout?)
Just to confirm, has the Cloudflare cache also been cleared? If it is happening across multiple browsers for you it sounds like it might be something happening at a local or network level. Are you logged out of your WP/CMS admin panel when viewing the site this way? Do you see changes when using the /?uncached parameter on the site URL?

I just tried and reloading I got the wrong layout, then I tried to load the /?uncached version which was fine.
After that I was unable to get the wrong layout.

I'm totally lost. I assume there's something wrong in Wordpress tables because renaming the deprecated Litespeed folder it destroy the graphic layout but only on front-end, when I'm logged into Wordpress every preview is fine.

However I will monitor the situation to see how it goes in the next days.

Update: I've successfully resolved the issue:

I took the following steps to fix the problem:

I re-activated the LiteSpeed plugin and then disabled all of its caching options, saving the settings.
Next, I deactivated the LiteSpeed Plugin and deleted the Litespeed folder containing CSS and JS files.

Among all the disabled caching options, there was a "Browser Cache" set to last for hundreds of weeks (as per default settings). Probably was that function to instruct the browser to search for those deprecated files. I believe that LiteSpeed rewrites certain rules whenever it's configured anew, so this time, I instructed it to do nothing, and it seems to have worked.

Even the live test in Google Search Console, which initially reported layout issues due to missing LiteSpeed CSS, now shows everything is functioning correctly.

With those old CSS files gone, I 'm able now to reactivate almost all of the Leap options, significantly improving the website's speed.
