Hi all,
I've been revisiting the layout of my website recently in an attempt to make it more user-friendly. There are a few things I want to change, including the way adverts are displayed. While I understand more ads mean more money, the user experience is my priority. Therefore, I would like to work with you on the following:
General remarks:
While loading web pages I noticed that some ad spaces don't load or display irrelevant ads such as shell ads or hair loss ads. How is this relevant to my travel-oriented audience? Is there a correlation between this and the fact that sometimes some of my blog posts don't generate any money although, they've had views and people spend quite some time reading the content (according to the data provided by the Ezoic dashboard)?
This has been my first year with Exoic and I know the traffic to my website is not significant (especially now after the Google core updates). But I did not notice quite a big drop in the rate you pay for displaying ads throughout the year. I started the year with an EPMV of $12 which lasted for 2 months only. It then dropped to more than half and never recovered. I would like to read your opinion on this, how can it be addressed, and how you envisage 2024.
So now that I covered my general queries, let's move on and address my ad queries. I would like to redesign how ads are displayed on my website. There are way too many, it makes my site look spammy so would like some of them removed.
My suggestions on how ads are displayed:
For the phone version, I no longer wish to display the type of ads popping up at the top of the page or the bottom.
I no longer wish for any other ads to show up on the home page (which I will be redesigning anyway in the next few months), except for the native ads I believe they are called. I am happy to keep the bottom one as I noticed everyone has it. But I no longer wish to have any videos inserted here and there on the home page.
Also for the bottom adverts, I noticed that on a mobile a scroll-up button is provided, but on the web version that scroll-up button is not visible anymore.
The problem is the bottom advert covers the scroll button my theme provides, so is it possible to enable your scroll instead as it works on the mobile version of the website, but not when I view the website on my laptop? Or make it in a way that the bottom ad does not cover my theme's scroll button. Unfortunately, I work with a free theme and cannot change the position of the scroll button. I hope I made myself clear.
Furthermore, I no longer wish to run video ads on the right side of my website. It is way too much.
Also, this might come across as a bit of an off-topic, but don't you produce the highlights for each quarter anymore? I got mine for the 1st quarter, but then they stopped being delivered. It was nice to have that kind of data at the end of each quarter. Is this something you will pick up at some point perhaps next year?
Finally, I would like to understand how you decide how many ads you run on each website page because again there are way too many. I have set up my optimization goals to be user experience-focused but it does not seem to make any difference.
Thank you, and I look forward to working with you on addressing these issues,
Kind Regards,
P.S. I was meant to upload screenshots, unfortunately, your chat comes up with an error and does not let me. I can provide them elsewhere (via email) if you want to have a look at the ad types I mentioned above.
