problem with iframes

Hello,
since last friday I have a problem with my counter in an iframe.
The iframe only shows old counters in every browser. The counters are different in every browser.
The php modules for the counters are not cached.

The problem exists with and without ad blockers. Everything was still fine until thursday. The problem has existed since friday.

bartman4ever Hey, it sounds like we need to set up an exclusion rule for the iFrame. Do you have an iFrame URL source that you can send over?

Hello, unfortunately the situation is the same. The counters show the same values as yesterday. Even when I reload the page. I've tested in 3 browsers (desktop: chrome/firefox, smartphone: android).

bartman4ever Hey, I excluded the iFrame URLs from Ezoic caching, please clear the cache and let us know if that did it. Hopefully excluding the iFrames from the cache should prevent the counters showing different figures. If not, we can contact the tech team about implementing another potential fix we've identified

I wanted to avoid deleting the entire cache. That's why I tested it with a single page. Unfortunately the display remains at the old value. Incidentally the php modules for the counters have always been excluded from the cache.

bartman4ever I didn't disable the entire cache, just the cache for the URLs you provided. We will get in touch with the tech team and ask if we can set the iframes to static.

I deleted a single page and tested. Unfortunately nothing has changed. The counters have an old content. If I deactivate/activate the ad blocker in firefox, the counters are updated once. After that they remain at the old level.
In chrome I don't use ad blockers. It shows me a content from Saturday. Everything was still fine until Friday morning.

bartman4ever Interesting, thanks for the information. I can relay that to the tech team, but can you confirm you made no changes to your site outside Ezoic on Friday morning? This information should hopefully help us find a quicker fix.

Can we also just clarify --- you mention 'deleting' something, do you mean clearing the cache for the particular URL?

Can we also just confirm that when we've implemented these changes, you've cleared all caching for the site and cleared the cache / cookies / history from the device browser you're using to check?

Yes I meant delete a url from cache.

On friday I haven't know about the changes. So I haven't cleared cache/cookies/history from browsers.
But now I deleted the cache/cookies/history from firefox and chrome. In both browers the counters were updated once. After that they remain at the old status.

Hello, unfortunately the error still exists. The iframes with the visitor counters are not called up. However the counters are not ignored in all browsers. It works fine under IOS on the Iphone. But not on the desktop in Chrome and Firefox. In the mobile Chrome I get old content displayed. I don't know how I can narrow down the error further.

Just an addition. On the Iphone this only works the first time you call it up. Then the old value remains and no longer changes. If I switch off the ad blocker in Firefox on desktop, the value is also updated once. Then it stops again.

I don't understand what happened with iframes 1 month ago. If I switch off the cache completely, the error remains. This really leaves me at a loss.

Can you recheck those pages now?
We're able to see the counter working on desktop using Chrome with no issues.

We made sure the pages you provided were excluded from caching altogether, so they shouldn't show 'cached' counts.

Thank you. Unfortunately the counters are only determined correctly the first time they are called up. After that they remain at the old status. No matter whether desktop, Iphone or other device.
Yesterday I stopped the cache completely. The same problem. I think it is not a problem with the cache but with iframes.
The counter contains only first calls each day. That is why something is displayed. Just not all calls.
If I call up the counters directly, they are displayed correctly.

bartman4ever Hey, I understand what you are saying. When accessing the site via a different device / browser, the counter is updating as expected. However, if I go back to the original page and refresh it, the counter is frozen. This is most likely due to page caching rather than the iFrame. however the good thing is the count is actually updating for every new visit. I will reach out to the team and see if there is anything else we can try.

bartman4ever One of our Engineers has taken a look at this and can see two counting iFrames on the page, after refreshing the actual counter URLs don't update till a short while afterwards. Please can you confirm what is firing to actually record a page visit?
