Hi all - needing help. I've had to turn off Ezoic and cannot open a ticket because my premium level is not high enough, which is unfortunate that Ezoic does not support L1 folks directly.

I am not clear how DNS works with Cloudflare and Ezoic. I have connected my cloudflare account via ezoic, because I need certain WAF rules to be followed. However, I have an issue now, in that only the root of my website works, the www version does not resolve.

Question: if my website domain host DNS is pointing to Ezoic and I am integrated with cloudflare, does Ezoic manage my DNS settings, or does it default to what is set up in my connected cloudflare account?

  1. how do I fix the issue of the www root not resolving? a CNAME? a A or AAAA record?

Help!

Hi there - hope you're well!

We absolutely do support L1 publishers directly - there's 8 of us here in the community ready to support publishers 5 days a week, from around 9am UK time to 5pm Pacific Time (US). Opening a new thread here allows our staff to assist - so you're in the right place now 🙂

Regarding your questions about Cloudflare, we have a guide at support.ezoic.com that's probably a good baseline for you to work from: https://support.ezoic.com/kb/article/how-to-integrate-with-ezoic-using-cloudflare

Regarding getting a www subdomain to 'work' with Ezoic integration, you'd definitely want to make sure that the Ezoic DNS is matching what's on record at your Host (origin server): https://support.ezoic.com/kb/article/how-to-update-add-dns-records-and-subdomains

OK thank you. If the DNS records are matching, then what DNS record needs to be added to Ezoic DNS to get my www URL's working?

Who are you using for a host of the site exactly?
Do you have a screenshot of the DNS / zone files from the host?

The www record at Ezoic looks incomplete - it's a AAAA record but the address only features three numbers, which is irregular for an AAAA server record.

My host DNS simply points to Ezoic, which I thought was required for integration.

However, I am not using Ezoic right now because of the www issue, so I am using my host's DNS service, which correctly handles the www and root. It's when switching back to Ezoic DNS that things fall apart.

Is it possible I can use Ezoic without having to use Ezoic DNS? That would solve my problem immediately.

Those are NS records - and right now they appear to be only set at the Host which is the incorrect location.
We're asking about DNS / zone file records - which are not the NS, but the A, CNAME, MX and TXT records.

Let's take a big step back here if we can.

When you integrate with Ezoic, you need to change the authoritative NS values at the site's Registrar.
If you change the NS values in the hosts DNS, you will most likely be sending the site down, and it will not integrate with Ezoic properly.
Again, the change to the NS values needs to be done at the site Registrar (which is typically where you purchased the domain and different from the host of the site).

Hi Tucker - Sorry - I was using the wrong terminology. I added a CNAME for the www portion to Ezoic and it appears that may have fixed the issue. I'll keep an eye on it.

This looks to have resolved now - and we've therefore been able to fully integrate the site. 🚀

We'll be here to help should you need it 🙂
