Bookman53 Google does not care about the frequency of posting as an indicator of a site being "the real deal".
Google is primarily interested in E-A-T: Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trust of the content/content producer.
This translate into a couple of specific elements:
- Quality of the content (needs to be useful and informative to the audience targeted)
- Author's demonstrated expertise on the topic(s)
So a publisher who publishes regularly (say 1-5 articles a week) will have more opportunities to demonstrate his/her expertise (Authoritativeness) in the field and provide more evidence to Google that they produce content of quality (Expertise) which will help build Trust in that site/author.
I think it's important to produce regularly as your means allow (time/money) so Google sees the site is not stale. This is especially important for sites that target news/seasonal topics.
So publishing often is indirectly better for the reasons listed above.
