Videos displaying very small

Hi,

I am having an issue with manually uploaded videos displaying very small pages. This is happening with a placeholder I created (The AI ones are fine), and doesn't seem to change even if I change the video size in the settings (see screenshot). I have cleared the cache and then also tried deleting the placeholder and creating a new one in a different location but have had the same results. Is anyone able to help?

Also, videos are being displayed at 360p, I read in another thread that they would be displayed at 720p if they achieved 5+ hours watch time per week and had a bitrate higher than 2, but mine still are 360p, is there any clarification on this? (There are a few videos with well over 5 hours of weekly watch time but they are not the same ones as the size issue)

Thank you for getting in touch. This seems like really strange behaviour of the video player.

Does this happen for all videos you upload or is it just a certain one?

Do you mind sharing a direct link to the page where that particular video is placed? In regard to the resolution you are indeed correct on this and it should be playing in a higher resolution.

I've tried three videos in the same placeholder on different pages, and then I created an entirely new placeholder and had the same issue.

AshM We also wanted to update you that our video team looked into this for you and the following videos are not encoded higher due to the source videos having lower quality:

"Azerbaijan F1 2022 Setup Fastest Race Hotlap Qualifying F1 22 Guide"
"Canada F1 2022 Setup Fastest Race Hotlap Qualifying F1 22 Guide"

Additionally "Austria Italian Setup (Italian)" has only been watched for 2 hours, therefore it is encoded at a lower rate.

It seems that the placeholder has been generated in the same div as the table of contents (see image below). You may want to create a new placeholder that is outside of this in order to prevent the video from resizing this way.

Mark_P Ok thank you, this is helpful. However, the videos were rendered at 1080p, although at a slightly lower bitrate than normal. When I tried standard render settings at 1080p (essentially the youtube preset), the videos would not upload, and I was advised the files were too large. This was last weekend, and I know there also was a Humix update that day. Can you clarify if there is a size limit and if there is any recommended format?

JeanPierre Ok so I have moved the placeholder, but the video is still appearing very small. I have tried positioning it not in the same container as other elements around that part of the page but it still seems to be small each time. Is it definitely a placement issue, and if so is there a change I can make to the page to help? I've tried putting it in the spaces between elements but it just doesn't seem to work. I am using Elementor if that makes any difference. Thanks.

AshM Thanks for getting back to us. I do not believe there is an upload limit. Can you let me know what format you are rendering the videos, are they MP4?

What software are you also using to render them?

Mark_P I had just been rendering on Sony Vegas 20, as MP4, using the preset Internet 1080p @ 29.97fps. My videos of around 9 mins were coming out at 600mb, which I admit is large, but didn't seem like a problematic size to me. But they were failing to upload (I commented on another thread about this), and I was advised to try smaller. So I kept the render as the same video dimensions, and reduced the bitrate, and then the same 9 min video was coming out at 250-300mb and uploaded fine. Just trying to figure out if my settings are wrong, or if I should be able to work with the original settings and I just encountered a Humix issue. I would like videos to be HD where possible, I understand there is criteria to meet for each but if I am hitting those then I want to ensure my visitors have the best experience possible.

Thanks for getting back to me. OK I Have asked our Humix team to confirm if there is a maximum upload size as this is strange and I did not believe there was one.

Your rendering settings in Sony Vegas all look to be correct.

Or is there a way to assign a video to an ai placeholder? The videos I created in flickify go into an ai placeholder that seems to work well, but when I try to assign the uploaded videos to a placeholder it only lets me select the ones I have manually created.

AshM Hello I have taken a look at this page here and found that the video placeholder didn't have a video linked. I have added an auto selected video and the video that is showing looks to be a good size. Heather Hi Heather, yes that one is displaying a good size but the video selected there is a Flickify video, however the issues I'm having are with the videos I have uploaded directly to Humix. I have a couple of each. So for that placeholder on the Bahrain page there is a Bahrain video I uploaded, but it seems to be super small when it is inserted. AshM No problem at all, yes you can use your own videos in an AI video placeholder - all you need to do is just add in the page URL and select the video to the AI ad placeholder.

Heather Thank you for the update! Also the information on the ai placeholders was great, I will try this in the meantime to see if it works.
Also, coming back to a point from earlier in the thread, are Flickify videos encoded at a high enough bitrate to display at higher than 360p? I just realised that Mark said that the Azerbaijan and the Canada source videos were lower quality, even though I made them in Flickify. The Australia video, also made in Flickify, (https://f1setups.com/f1-22/australia-setup/) is showing as 29 hours watched in my analytics but is still loading at 360p for me...

Sorry for the 20 questions, but in July I expect to have an increase in traffic as the new game launches, and I want to make sure I have a good understanding of the best video strategy by then! I really appreciate everyone's time and patience.
