  • Migrating websites to new server, what is the procedure for this?

Dear Support,

We're moving two websites to a new webserver and need to keep Ezoic working smoothly. After a simple DNS record change in the ezoic DNS, the websites (seen through Ezoic) turned white. However direct access to the new webserver where the sites reside worked fine.

I guess this could be related to caching. How do I make sure the ezoic cache (and possible interlinks between ezoic and websites) keeps working when DNS is pointed to the new locations?

Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Gerard.

    Hi Ethan,

Could you explain how caching works for two domains? (on 1 website, with 1 ezoic plug-in)

Kimopreis Hi, which of your sites are we looking at here? Typically we'd recommend that publishers disable caching at their host, and via plugins, and that they only use Ezoic's caching features. Reason for that is multiple layers of caching can cause older versions of sites to show or can cause negative caching performance as the two technologies try to perform the same caching functions.

      Hi Ethan, it's about kimopreis.nl
      Current situation:
      Kimopreis.nl for Dutch articles
      Kimopreis.nl/en for English articles

      New situation (migrating on Friday)
      Kimopreis.nl for Dutch articles
      Tripunlocked.com for English articles.

Kimopreis Got it, thanks for clarifying. I can see that you're using Jetpack, so when pushing the new content you'll want to clear the cache at Jetpack or if content won't update try disabling the plugin.

Just a side note, the new English version of the domain isn't approved by Ezoic or Ad Manager right now, so won't be eligible to show ads on that version of the site at this time, you'd need to get Ezoic and Ad Manager approval on the new domain to show ads 🙂

Ethan Hi Ethan, yeah I saw that. I guess I added it to the system too early - I received at message that it wasn't approved and I can't request a re-review until the 18th. Patience... ;-)
